This is a vintage Japanese ceramic noh mask (noh-men) decoration. This character is the face of a young woman or girl (ko-omote). It can also be called onna (woman) on a more broad scale. This character, literally meaning "small face" is typically used in performances as a young girl or supernatural being. It is characterized by a narrow face with neatly parted hair, soft brows, and a slightly open mouth. This mask has purple strings fitted on either side of the head and a yellow string at the back for hanging.
