Antique Japanese Buddhist Offering Stand Kuge Pair

These are a pair of antique offering stands called Kuge for the Buddhist altar in Japan. Cut in a floral shape with a removable top piece resembling a flower, though the petals of the top piece come off from the stand, and some of them are missing. This pair is painted with gold and black lacquer. It is a utensil for offering rice cakes, fruits, Rakugan sweets, etc, and is mainly used by the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect of Buddhism.  This pair is cased in a wooden box, and there is a handwritten sentence on the backside of the lid.

• Fair condition considering its age. Lacquer is worn in some places. Some discolorations. Three black petals missing. One gold petal missing. Problem with the feet of the stand for petals: one is missing, and another is loose. Small insect damage on the box. Box lid is loose. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
