Japanese Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest
This is a Japanese sewing box, also called haribako. In an accordion style, this sewing chest has two lidded compartments that extend outward and one large compartment on the bottom. The outside is brushed with clear lacquer, and the inside is lined with velvety red fabric. It has three handles; the main one separates into two when the bottom compartment is open, and the others are on the lid for opening the top compartments. This beautiful tansu chest can be used for storing sewing supplies, jewelry, or other trinkets. It is cased in the cardboard box.
