Japanese Lacquered Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest
This is a Japanese sewing box, also called haribako. A dark brown color with a clear brushed lacquer coating, this large unique chest has two small drawers on one side as well as two large narrow drawers on the bottom that slide out in both directions for easy access. There is one open-top compartment. It uses simple carved wood handles and knobs and had a cut-out handle on the top. This beautiful tansu chest can also be used for storing sewing supplies, jewelry, or other trinkets.
