Japanese Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest
This is a Japanese traditional-style sewing box, also called haribako. Finished with a glossy medium brown color, it displays gorgeous rippled wood grain. This tansu chest has four differently-sized drawers with decorative metal hardware.
Extending upward from the box itself is a pin stand that is covered by a small hinged cover. There is also a slot on the side of the pin cushion stand that was initially to house a small straight ruler for measuring (ruler not included). This beautiful piece can not only be used for storing sewing supplies, but perfect for jewelry, art supplies, or other trinkets.
Acquired from the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya, Japan
