Japanese Wooden Bucket Sushioke
This is a vintage Japanese shallow wooden bucket made for serving sushi. It is called sushioke, hangiri, or handai. Made of precisely cut wood pieces, it is firmly held together via tension by metal plates, twisted wires, or woven/braided bamboo called taga. This particular bucket uses two bands of copper wires. It has inscriptions on the bottom. While its main purpose is for serving food, this classic piece can also be used for general home or office decor.
