Vtg Japanese Traditional Washi Paper Art
This is a large panel of handcrafted washi paper art. It uses thick beige paper with a knotted rope noose incorporated into the paper during production. It also includes a zigzag line down the piece with a darker-colored thread and has accents of silver throughout.
Washi paper has a whole host of materials and uses. From drawing paper, woodblock prints, and shoji screens to doll-making, wrapping paper, and postcards, the three main materials are kozo, mitsumata, and gampi, all plant fibers. However, hemp, wood pulp, bamboo, etc are also commonly used for cheaper, everyday products and often in washi paper-making experiences for tourists.
