Japanese Bangasa Umbrella
Whether paired with a beautiful kimono or in the hands of an elegant Geisha, Japanese traditional umbrellas (wagasa) are a popular fashion accessory as well as an eye-catching home decor piece.
Using a simple floral pattern, this parasol is covered with tan and red colored paper in a spiral. The headpiece at the very top uses a light bronze patterned silk cloth with a metal cap and handle. The outer ribs are painted with red lacquer with subtle origami cranes and the inner ribs are stained a dark brown with bright yellow string. The handle is made of bamboo with wood stopper pins and metal bottom tip.
