Japanese Ukiyoe Woodblock Print Art Reproduction

This Japanese art print is a reproduction of ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Yoshifuji called 'View of the Lantern of Shokonsha Shrine, Tokyo Kudan Saka-ue'. It represents a vivid scene of Tokyo during the early Meiji period, featuring people, rickshaws, and outdoor shops. The lantern is on the left side of the composition. Shonkonsha Shrine is now known as Yasukuni Shrine.

Ukiyoe is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, flora and fauna, and erotica.
