This is a Japanese resin oni mask. It is red, gold, and black, and has curly hair and fearsome eyebrows. This particular type of mask is used during the Setsubun holiday each year on February 3rd. It is a day to frighten away evil and bad fortune and is often done by throwing roasted soybeans out of one's house or at someone wearing an oni mask.
