Vintage Japanese Porcelain Small Plate, Mamezara

This is a vintage Japanese porcelain plate. This uniquely-shaped, small plate with lifted sides, also called mamezara, is white, blue, red, and gold with a beautifully hand-painted scene of a garden or temple bridge with some hanging leaves and trees in the background. Mamezara are tiny plates in a Japanese tableware set that typically hold dipping sauces such as soy sauce, garnishes, and other condiments. It is also the perfect size for holding small jewelry.
