Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wood Serving Tray
This is a vintage Japanese lacquered wooden tray, or Obon, typically used for serving drinks and or snacks to guests in one's home, business, etc.
This hyotan/gourd-shaped tray boasts the classic glossy red and black lacquer. The bottom side is textured for traction on flat surfaces. This tray is ideal for displaying items on a tabletop such as a centerpiece.
Hyotan symbols are popular with businesses as they bring about success. They are also often found at the front of homes or near doorways with the lid off to gather any negativity that may try to enter.
