Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Sake Bottle Holder
This is a Japanese vintage lacquer cup or small bowl used to hold small sake serving bottles, also called tokkuri hakama. This adds decoration to the sake bottle but also keeps drips or any wetness on the bottom from marking a tabletop or counter. Lacquered a deep brown with a black bottom, this piece has a seasonal shochikubai design (pine, plum, bamboo trio) in gold, silver and green.
It can also be used to serve small snacks, such as nuts and small senbei, while serving and drinking sake, as well as for small trinkets and jewelry.
