Vtg Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku
This is a vintage Japanese hang scroll Kakejiku. A poem was written in calligraphy,
It means that study hard while you are young; boys grow old easily but getting learned is harder. This is a famous poem "gūsei" by Shuki (朱熹). Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
