Antique Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku
This is an antique Japanese hang scroll Kakejiku. I think it was written by Masaomi Ban, a poet, and calligrapher of the Meiji and early Showa eras. The date is written as Kinoetora (甲寅年日), so it was probably 1914. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
