Vintage Japanese Katagami of Gosho Guruma Court Carriage w/ Plastic Frame
In a black and gold plastic frame with a glass panel, this katagami textile stencil displays the image of a gosho guruma cart (court/imperial carriage). Resembling a rickshaw, these elaborate covered carts are typically depicted being led by an ox and miniatures are commonly found among detailed hina doll sets. There is a gold and silver sheet behind the katagami to give it extra emphasis.
While katagami is typically used for printing images on fabrics such as kimono, it has become a popular item to frame and or further decorate for wall art. As such, its intricate designs made by hand-cutting the paper make it a gorgeous piece to use in home and office decor.
