Vtg Japanese Clay Zodiac Decoration
This is a vintage Japanese clay figurine representing a mouse or rat. It is white and red with gold accents and red inscriptions on the front. This figurine has a felt pad on the bottom and a sticker on the back with the name of the kiln.
Rat, or nezumi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
