Vintage Japanese Clay Roof Tile Small Plate

This is a vintage Japanese clay roof tile plate. This small square plate, also called mamezara, is an actual clay terracotta roofing tile with an orangish-brown glazed top surface. It is a unique and rustic addition to any dinnerware or entertaining set. 
Mamezara are tiny plates in a Japanese tableware set that typically hold pastes and sauces, garnishes, and other condiments. It is also the perfect size for holding small jewelry.

• Good condition considering age. Roughly glazed so there may be spots on the surface that are not covered. Small chips on edges. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
