Vintage Japanese Clay Roof Tile Small Plate

This is a vintage Japanese clay roof tile plate. This small square plate, also called mamezara, is an actual clay terracotta roofing tile with an orangish-brown glazed top surface. It is a unique and rustic addition to any dinnerware or entertaining set. 
Mamezara are tiny plates in a Japanese tableware set that typically hold pastes and sauces, garnishes, and other condiments. It is also the perfect size for holding small jewelry.
