Japanese Clay Onigawara Roof Tile
This is a Japanese sculpted clay oni demon roof tile (kawara) decoration often found on temples and sometimes private residences. Also called onigawara, this large and heavy ridge-end tile acts as an amulet to frighten off evil spirits and ward off misfortune and disaster. It has horns and piercing eyes with a semi-open mouth. It can be installed on a building but is also perfect for general eye-catching decor.
