Japanese Clay Turtle Roof Tile
This is a Japanese sculpted clay minogame/kame turtle roof tile (kawara) decoration often found on temples and sometimes private residences. Minogame are legendary turtles that sport tails made of seaweed. They are said to be symbols of longevity. This particular piece is Hagiwara pottery and sold by Isozaki Tile Shop (a store in Takahama, Aichi Prefecture). It can be installed on a building but is also perfect for general eye-catching decor.
