Vtg Japanese Clay Cow Zodiac Decoration

This is a vintage Japanese clay figurine of a cow. It is lightweight and is painted a matte white color. There is a washi paper fan design on the side as well as abstract painted plum blossoms and gold accents on the horns, nose, and side. 
Cow, or ushi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
