Vintage Japanese Ceramic Suiban for Ikebana Flower Arrangement

This is a vintage ceramic Japanese flower vase, or suiban. It is heavy with numerous shades of brown. Square in shape with a round center, the outside edges of this suiban have a deep, textured geometric design. It sits on a short attached pedestal.
Suiban means "water tray" and typically houses the spiked weight (kenzan) that hold ikebana flower stems in place, but can also be used as a base for a flower pot, or even a potted bonsai.
