Japanese Ceramic Takasago Doll
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic Kutani ware Takasago doll. Takasago dolls are lucky charms for longevity and happy married life. Takasago dolls are usually two pairs of old couple dolls, this is the grandmother doll. The rake held by Jo (grandfather) has the meaning of "gathering fortune (fortune)", and the broom held by Uba (grandmother) has the meaning "warding off evil (amulet)". This is related to the meaning of "both husband and wife help each other, the husband collects wealth, and the wife protects and arranges the home."
