Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl or matcha chawan. It is in the Nezumi shino ware style, a type of Mino ware. The feature of this bowl, a light gray color, is made with two glazes: a dark brown underglaze and a white topcoat. The white pattern on the body is made by scraping off the dark brown underglaze before the white topcoat. The white topcoat glaze appears to be melting and floating on the inside and outside. It is sturdy and easy to handle.
Green tea bowls are traditionally used to prepare and drink green tea during tea ceremonies, but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
