Vtg Japanese Buddhist Senko Incense
These are vintage Japanese Buddhist o-senko, incense sticks cased in a wooden box. In the box, there are twelve bundles of sticks, and one bundle contains about sixty-five sticks; about seven hundred and eighty sticks in total. It has a sticker on the box lid.
The scent of incense sticks is said to feed and purify the deceased, and the smoke delivers prayers and thoughts to the ancestors and the dead. Incense is also used to purify a space or to change one's state of mind.
