Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Parts
This item is a set of two decorative pillars originally part of a Japanese vintage wooden Buddhist altar cabinet. These two cylinder-like parts are made of wood, painted in black lacquer, and decorated with brass metal pieces representing leaves, flowers and other natural elements.
In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a "small temple in the home".
Acquired item at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya, Japan.
