 Vintage Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Sliding Door Panel

This item comes from a Japanese vintage wooden Buddhist altar cabinet. This small, solid sliding door panel is mostly brushed lacquer in a dark brown color that accentuates the natural wood grain. The front contains a gold-painted border along with bronze metal embellishments. This piece can be used as a sliding panel or as a decorative art piece.

In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a "small temple in the home".
