Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Lacquered Offering Table　

This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist kyozukue offering table. It is painted with brown, black, and gold lacquer and has a traditional shape. It has a drawer to store items such as prayer beads and candles. This table has several inscriptions in gold color on the table top and on the front legs.

This piece is typically placed in front of a Buddhist altar, and the original usage is for reading sutras, but it is also used as a stand for placing an incense burner or ring an orin bell (singing bowl).

  • Approx. 48.5 cm long x 26.7 cm wide x 30.8 cm tall (drawer inside space approx.  28 cm long x 16 cm wide x 6.8 cm tall)
  • Good condition. Scratches, chips and dents in several places. Lacquer/paint is peeled in some places such as the table legs, especially the gold color paint. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
  • This item was acquired at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya, Japan.
