Japanese Rice Offering Cup Buddhist Altar Fitting Butsugu

This is a vintage Japanese rice offering cup, Buppanki, made for use in a Buddhist altar. This cup is small and made of heavy metal painted brown with a silver-colored metal insert to protect the inside of the cup from moisture. The rice offered to Buddhist altars is called “Buppan”. In the Jodo Shinshu Otani sect, we use the term "Obuku".
