Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Decorative Parts
This is a vintage Japanese part of a Buddhist altar, or butsudan. It is called shumidan or Sumeru Altar. It is the last tier before reaching the Buddha in this representation. The design is carved from wood and features two chrysanthemum flowers at the very center, while the rest if lacquered in black and gold. This piece is excellent for doing butsudan repair, DIY, and general decoration. It can also be used as a stand for a statue or vase. The small fence-like pieces at the front are removable/adjustable.
