Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Orin Bell
Antique Japanese Buddhist rin bell in cast bronze, exhibiting heavy aged patina with natural verdigris and mineral deposits from long-term use. Hand-finished form with irregular rim, suggesting early or traditional casting. A character-rich piece with deep historical presence. Although the long ringing sound of this bell is gone, it still has a sound and is a great historical piece.
Singing bowls are sounded during ritual prayer. The sound of an Orin bell can reach the Buddha in the Pure Land. Sound is also used to ward off evil spirits and convey prayers to the Buddha, ancestors, and the deceased.
