Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Scroll
This is a Japanese vintage silk and paper hanging scroll (Owakigake) representing the Buddhist monk Shinran, founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect. The monk is sitting and holding a prayer bracelet in his hands. This scroll is an icon displayed in Japanese Buddhist home altars, Butsudan. It is a powerful religious image, aimed to be at the center of an altar. This Owakigake is dark blue and red with gold floral details.

- Good condition considering age. Warped. Stains and marks on icon, discoloration. Tear on the bottom right. Pin holes (top center). Wear on the fabric and the metal parts. Wear and tear due to use. Please see the photos.
