This is a Japanese wooden letter box, Ofumibako. It is one of the Buddhist altar items. Put a letter in the box written by Rennyo Shonin of Hongwanji Temple. There is a drawer at the bottom of the Buddhist altar stored box inside. If it doesn't fit, leave it next to the Buddhist altar. The family crest is painted on the lid top and side.
