Antique Japanese Guard Hina Doll
This Japanese antique old guard (zuishin) ohinasama doll dressed in a purple and green kimono is the perfect addition to any existing hina set or adds gorgeous Eastern flair to any home decor. He typically holds a bundle of arrows or a bow, but this piece is missing, as well as the hat. This doll sits on an attached wooden stand. The head and hands are made of wood covered with gofun. The head is removable.
The Hinamatsuri (Doll's Festival) in Japan is a traditional event celebrated on March 3rd every year. Its purpose is primarily to wish for the healthy growth and happiness of girls. Hina dolls are an essential part of the festival and are prominently displayed in homes during it.
