Antique Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Offering Stand
Lacquered in red and gold, this pair of antique wooden Japanese offering stands, or butsugu, is an important addition to any home Buddhist altar. The offering for this type of stand is typically a small bowl or cup of fresh rice. Putting an offering cup high or in a raised position is a gesture of respect for Buddha and one's ancestors.
The bottom panel is removable.
