Antique Japanese Buddhist Nichiren Nobori Flag
This is an antique Japanese memorial service flag that has written many people's names of Myoho (posthumous name) and the date March of the 6th year of the Tenpo Period (c1835). I think it was a memorial service flag at Hongonji temple. The Kanji 菩提"Bodhi "written in the middle of the flag means the heart striving for enlightenment. 水子"Mizuko" means a child who died shortly after birth, a miscarriage, or a baby.
