Antique Japanese Stamp

This is a Japanese antique stamp hand-carved in solid wood. This stamp features Japanese characters written vertically. The text is related to the Shikoku Pilgrimage, and there are Buddhist quotes and the name of a place in Okayama prefecture. This item was probably used to print goshuin books or other papers related to the Shikoku Pilgrimage.  This stamp can be used as a decoration or a tool for your creative work.

• Some characters: 四國八拾八ヶ所 Shikoku 88 Sacred Places Pilgrimage, 備中下道郡 Bicchu no kuni Katou-gun (old administrative division now in Okayama prefecture)
• Item Weight: 63 grams
• Packed Weight: 150 grams
• Approx. 17 cm long x 5.9 cm wide x 1 cm tall (design is approx. 16.5 cm long x 5.3 cm wide)
• Good condition considering age. Used item. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
• Acquired at the famous Osu antique market in Nagoya, Japan
