Vintage Japanese Wooden Storage Box

Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc, and even food.

This is a vintage Japanese open wooden crate. It was once used to ship food to stores and restaurants. It may have had a lid at one time, but it is missing. It is a very sturdy box with thick-cut panels of wood.
