Vintage Japanese Wooden Serving Tray
This is a Japanese vintage wooden tray, or Obon, typically used for serving drinks and snacks to guests in one's home, business, etc. A rich medium brown in color with lovely wood grain on display, this sturdy rectangular tray provides both function and beautiful decor. It also features a gorgeous maki-e design of pink and blue flowers.
The gold flower designs are called maki-e, a decorative painting technique done by sprinkling gold powder onto wet lacquer before it hardens.
This was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya
