Vintage Japanese Wooden Decorative Plaque
This vintage Japanese wooden souvenir plaque features a picture of the Nageire Hall of Mitokusan Sanbutsu-ji Temple. It has inscriptions: Misasa Onsen. On the back, there are some inscriptions as well as a red seal. This plaque has a white and red braided cord and a small bell.
Ema is a small wooden plaque used at Shinto shrines, and sometimes Buddhist temples, that worshipers can write their wishes, hopes, and dreams on. Once written, it is hung on a special wooden stand or tree where the kami (spirits or gods) are thought to receive them.
