Vintage Japanese Ceramic Suiban for Ikebana Flower Arrangement
This is a vintage ceramic Japanese flower vase, or suiban. It is heavily textured with a light blue glaze inside and out. The rim is a dark mossy green and at the very bottom of the inside is a crystalline look of blue water. It stands on an attached pedestal for height.
Suiban means "water tray" and typically houses the spiked weight (kenzan) that hold ikebana flower stems in place, but can also be used as a base for a flower pot, or even a potted bonsai.
