Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is both gray and brown with various etched floral designs in a bordered pattern. This unique type of pottery is called banko ware. The pattern continues on the inside as well. This is a traditional chawan shape with tall sides and is sturdy and easy to hold. It has a maker's mark impression on the bottom.
Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
