Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Orin Bell with Lacquered Wood Stand
This is a vintage Japanese orin bell for Buddhist altars. It contains a brass bowl with a wooden striker. It rests on a red and gold silk pillow with a beige tassel, as well as on a lacquered black and gold stand with metal embellishments.
Singing bowls are sounded during ritual prayer.
Orin bell sound can reach the Buddha in the Pure Land. It is also used to ward off people's evil spirits and convey prayers to the Buddha, ancestors, and the deceased through sound.
