This is a Japanese Buddhist altar fitting, candle stand, Shokudai. Candle stands are one of the three important items of the "Mitsugusoku" of Buddhism. (vases, incense burners, and candle stands). Candlelight is in the Buddhist world that shines a warm light in the darkness and has been considered the light of Buddha's wisdom and mercy.
