Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Doors
This is a 2-piece set of doors coming from a Japanese vintage wooden Buddhist altar cabinet. The two doors, a total of four panels, are in a red and black color with gold metal embellishments. The four panels consist of a meshed material behind a metal grid on both sides. Each panel is adorned with a black and gold picture of a flower on the bottom, crafted with the Makie Raden technique.
In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a "small temple in the home".
