Vtg Japanese Lacquered Wood Cover For Gift Envelopes w/Box
This is a Japanese vintage lacquered cover for gift envelopes (fukusa) given at weddings or funerals. This cover is a solid with the top piece being mostly red with a black and gold border and the back piece plain red. The alternate sides are gray. This cover is very sturdy to prevent envelopes and notes from being folded while carrying around as well as adds a step-up in decoration compared to gifting a standard fukusa envelope. This item would typically come with a silk wrapping cloth, however is it missing. There is a pamphlet inside that explains how to use it and comes with the original paper box.
