Vintage Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Lacquer Offering Table 

This is a vintage small Japanese Buddhist altar offering table (Maejoku). It is mostly gold with the top surface coated in a glossy black lacquer. On the front side has carved chrysanthemums also painted gold. It has a reversible top panel with black on one side and red on the other.

There are two types of offering tables Maejoku and Uwajoku. Maejoku is placed in front of the Shumidan. It is used for 3 Gusoku (candle stand, flower vase, and incense burner). Uwajoku is placed in front of Amidanyorai. It is used for a flower vase, a rice cup, and a kasha incense burner.
