Vintage Japanese Hina Matsuri Display Photograph
This is an original vintage Showa-era black and white photograph of a Hina Matsuri doll display set up for the Girls' Day holiday (March 3rd annually). The dolls and their accessories represent a royal court that includes a prince and princess at the top, their retainers, musicians, and various mochi and fruit offerings. More elaborate sets include the princess's dowry (sewing box, chests, dresser, etc). The two dolls at the front are additional decorative pieces usually given as gifts by family.
