Vtg Japanese Bamboo and Silk Drawstring Kimono Bag
This is a Japanese drawstring bag made of fine silk cloth and a handwoven bamboo basket lacquered a dark brown. The silk fabric features what appears to be morning glories (asagao) showcasing all of their popular colors in blue, purple, and dark pink. The inside is lines with a mossy green silk fabric and it has braided dark purple cords for the drawstring. This type of bag, called a kinchaku-bukuro, is used as a purse or tote bag for when a person is dressed in kimono or yukata. It is also statement piece for everyday use or excellent for storing small items.
